SAP TIP OF THE WEEK #12

Allow Stock Release Without Item Cost

Time is money; be efficient; deliver on time … these mantras are so deeply internalized, guiding us to streamline business processes and avoid bottle necks as much as possible. When managing perpetual inventory either by moving average or FIFO, the item cost is calculated with each transaction, and this is the basis for calculating the inventory value at a given time. Depends on the business activity, timing (for example holiday season), and other factors, there might be cases where you need to release items before the incoming transaction was recorded and before the item cost was calculated. For such cases SAP Business One provides you the following setting:

When selected, you’ll be able to release items even if item cost is not recorded yet. If you deselect this option, an error message appears when attempting to release items for which item cost Is not recorded. You can change this setting at any time.

Available from SAP Business One, version for SAP HANA and MSSQL.
